To complete the spectacle, everyone from bartenders to wait staff will be transformed in dramatic body paint and theatrical make up – and if visitors fancy getting involved, on-demand beauty app Ruuby will travel to their homes ahead of the event to get them looking suitably spooky.

What? Riverside hotel Sea Containers London is throwing a Halloween bash to remember at their rooftop bar 12th Knot, complete with interactive performers, wandering acts and secret playrooms. The eclectic line-up includes magicians Josh Brett and Keelan Leyser, alongside professional hip-hop dancer turned illusionist, levitationist and dancer Sonia Benito. Feeling daring? Head to one of the immersive rooms around the hotel, which include a photography experience offering guests the opportunity to get the perfect Instagram shot – with a selection of Halloween costumes up for grabs. Grey Goose and Bacardi have created a special drinks menu for the occasion, with three-hour drinks packages for guests keen to go big.

On the night of the 31st, they’re throwing an occult-themed party in their subterranean bar Below featuring Ouija boards, fortune tellers and shamans. Canapes will come in the shape of crystal balls and tarot cards, with the cocktail of the night being Sangrenta Maria: Casamigos Blanco mixed with agave syrup, tomato juice, grapefruit, lemon juice and Grand Marnier.

Halloween Party at King’s Cross

What? As the darkness creeps in on All Hallow’s Eve, the King’s Cross Skeleton Squad will raise from their Canalside graveyard to take over Granary Square, where they’ll perform an illuminated dance of the dead. Keen to get involved? Free dance workshops will take place from 5.30pm, giving us mere mortals a chance to join the squad and take part in the performances, scheduled for 6.30 and 7.30pm. Visitors are encouraged to don their best skeleton attire in the hopes of winning gold in the fancy dress competition. Afterwards, head for a bite to eat from one of the many King’s Cross eateries, many of which are serving special Halloween-themed delicacies.

Day of The Dead Party at Oblix

What? The Shard is known for throwing some of the capital’s buzziest bashes, and it sounds like their Day of the Dead party will be no exception. Live entertainment will take place throughout the evening, with DJ Tony keeping things lively until the early hours. Extravagant fancy dress is very much encouraged, with a make-up artist on hand to add the final touches – all to be documented via the step and repeat photo wall. A nod to the Mexican origins of the Day of the Dead, tequila and mezcal will feature heavily in the specially created Casamigos cocktail menu, with one drink included in the ticket price. All this will take place against the backdrop of the glittering London skyline, all the more magical as darkness descends upon the capital.

Served up during the show will be a three to five-course tailor-made menu, featuring delights such as pumpkin risotto, beef tartare, quail egg and parmesan shavings plus a selection of sweet treats including oozing chocolate fondant.
