What’s On In London This Week? October 21 – 28

1. Carb-load at Emilia’s for World Pasta Day

As the days get steadily colder and darker, there’s really no better time to hunker down with a few friends and many a steaming bowl of fresh pasta. To celebrate World Pasta Day, Emilia’s in Aldgate are throwing their biggest giveaway of free pasta, aiming to beat last year’s number of over 300 guests served. Choose from seven of their signature dishes, including home-made pesto and pappardelle with slow-cooked bolognese. 25 October, 12–4pm and 5:30–9:30pm, Emilia’s Crafted Pasta, 77 Alie St, London, E1 8NH; walk-in only, so make sure get there early!

2. Discover fantastic new films at East Asia Film Festival

This year’s London East Asian Film Festival festival features ten stands and an exciting film programme. As well as the official LEAFF selection, which shows the best Asian films of the year, sections include Stories of Women, representing female voices of Asian cinema, and K-Cinema 100, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Korean cinema with work by the talented young Korean filmmakers. In its fourth year, the festival showcases East Asian culture in the UK, championing the growing collaboration and diversity in East Asian filmmaking. 24 October–3 November, select cinemas including Odeon Leicester Square, London’s Cinema Museum and Deptford Cinema; for tickets and full programme visit leaff.org.uk

3. Explore London’s creative side at V&A Friday Late

Where does one find creative spaces in London? This is the question posed by the upcoming session of V&A’s Friday Late series, aptly named This Must Be The Place, moving from the museum’s usual South Kensington location to five leading arts venues across Hackney Wick. Discover how creative communities respond to and evolve in tandem with this ever-changing city through innovative art installations, live music, film, experimental performances and much more. 25 October, 7–11pm, Hackney Wick; for more details and the full night’s programme, visit vam.ac.uk

4. Take to the ice at the National History Museum

Natural History Museum

For arguably the best ice in central London, head over to the Natural History museum’s rink for a skating session.
