Dissecting the trends it it’s no shock to see Stranger Things proving ultra popular this year, but more surprisingly gnomes are also big!

Pinterest Halloween trends 2019
1. Stranger Things theme
With the return of season three this summer it’s no surprise that a top trending party theme for Halloween this year is Stranger Things. Searches for ‘Stranger Things Halloween decorations’ are up a staggering 549 per cent.
2. Fashionable boho decorations
Following on from fashion another key theme is boho! Not one you’d necessarily associate with a scary party, but it’s a good one to ensure it’s a stylish affair. ‘Boho Halloween decorations’ searches are up 68 per cent.
3. Ghoulish gnomes
Before you think of the ‘tacky’ garden dwellers these are more tasteful. The gnome for Halloween is more of a stylish Nordic character. Halloween specific gnomes are up a whopping 385 per cent.
4. Halloween blankets
Ideal for wrapping up warm in the autumn chill or to hide under when things get too scary, a dedicated blanket is a thing. So much so, Halloween blanket searches are up 89 per cent.
5. Pops of colour
Don’t want to stick to a monochrome colour palette or pumpkin orange? you’re in luck, because 2019 is the year for alternative Halloween colours. Trending colours are ‘pink Halloween’, up 221 per cent and ‘pastel Halloween’, up 164 per cent.
6. Amazing mazes
For fright night try turning your house into a spooky maze of mystery. The term ‘Halloween maze’ is up in search 54 per cent. Hang blankets, sheets and decorations across doorways to create intrigue and interest as guest move throughout the house.
7. Garage parties
Throwing a party in your garage is the thing to do this year, making the most of this extra space. New to us, ‘Halloween garage decorations’ are up 71 per cent.
8. Spooky weddings
Who says weddings have to be white? The appetite for ‘spooky weddings’ is up 195 per cent, and particularly ‘Halloween wedding ideas purple’ which is up 89 per cent.
Still giving us the creeps (in a good way) from last year
1. Floating witch hat lights
This floating fancy was up 485 percent on Pinterest search last year. This simple but effective decorating idea looks straight out of a movie.
2. Dry ice centerpiece
Not since the days of dodgy discos has dry ice been such a hit! Dry ice cocktails are taking the world by storm, as are dry ice centerpieces – searches soared by 280 per cent.
3. Skeleton flamingos
Day of the Dead includes the animal kingdom clearly, as skeleton flamingo searches rose by 140 per cent. Thanks to the 2017 Disney animation Coco, we’re all familiar with the concept of magical spirit animals. What better than a spirit flamingo?
4. Drip candlestick holders
The epitome of a haunted house is the drip candlestick holders. Up 33 percent, this look is easy to recreate. Simply burn tapered candles right down and collect the wax drips along the holder.
5. Spider eggs
Spiders eggs, up 45 per cent, who know it could catch on? Filling white tights with fake spiders, sounds scary in itself but it’s quite genius.
If your guests are scared of spiders this is one way to frighten them. Urgh, it’s so good but so creepy.
6. Drip painted pumpkins
Carving is soooo old news. Last year everyone was drip painting pumpkins.
7. Halloween string lights
A string of lights is fashionable for any season, but the emphasis here is on spooky designs. Particularly black cats, but also ghosts and ghouls – search up 301 per cent.
8. Pumpkin lanterns
If you still prefer a more traditional pumpkin, turning them into arty lanterns is a big trend – up 324 per cent.
9. Spooky window silhouettes
Cast a spooky shadow with simple paper silhouettes at the windows. Black paper creates an eerie effect during the day and a wickedly good illuminated shadow by night. The search for window silhouettes was up on Pinterest 147 per cent.
10. Halloween wreaths
No longer just for Christmas, wreaths are adorning doors in celebration of Easter and Halloween. Autumnal feel Halloween wreaths are up in search on Pinterest a whopping 254 per cent.
