The Tanqueray Townhouse
This December, Holborn’s Bloomsbury House will be transformed into the Tanqueray Townhouse: a ten-day residency filled with immersive experiences and plenty of gin cocktails. Artists will travel around the Townhouse each evening performing illusions – think playing cards magically appearing in gin bottles and cocktail shakers disappearing before your eyes. A selection of lucky guests will be invited by a ringing telephone to take part in a special event in the venue’s hidden bar, which involves using brainwave technology to eat personalised drinks. Martha Ortiz’ ‘Into the Gold’ Menu at Ella Canta
Mexico is one of the world’s largest producers of gold, and the precious metal is woven into the country’s rich history. Chef Martha Ortiz celebrates this in her new six-course menu, Into the Gold, launching at Ella Canta this December. The selection of artfully presented dishes includes a sea bass ceviche with kumquat, guinea fowl with white mole, and a pineapple and mango sorbet laced with gold. Wild Game Evening at The Grand Duchess
All aboard floating restaurant The Grand Duchess for an evening of wild game with Kiwi chef Cameron Emirali. For one night only he’ll be bringing his Mediterranean flair to Paddington, rustling up an impressive five-course menu showcasing the best of British game. Sexy Fish’s 4th Birthday
Lavish Mayfair restaurant Sexy Fish is celebrating its 4th birthday with a series of wild and wonderful events, running in partnership with The House of Suntory. Guests will dine surrounded by an array of acrobats, dancers and vocal artists, with House of Pyramid performers outfitted in elaborate Under The Sea-themed costumes. 67 Pall Mall, the wine-focused members club in historic St James’s, is hosting a series of wine sessions, open to non-members and members alike. Whether you’re a beginner or an aficionado, Scarfes Bar is the perfect place to learn about whisky, being home to one of the most impressive whisky collections in the capital. Hosted by resident Scot and whisky fanatic Craig Petrie, each masterclass will begin with an invitation to explore the towering Whisky Wall which greets visitors as they enter the bar, housing over 500 whiskies. Champagne Friends at bubbledogs
Following its reopening earlier this year, Fitzrovia bar bubbledogs is launching a new series in which a programme of guest sommeliers put their stamp on bubbledogs’ celebrated Champagne list. Some of the capital’s most popular wine bars will be making an appearance, including P. ‘Not Native’ Chef Series
True to their ethos of using only British, seasonal produce, London Bridge restaurant Native is introducing a new guest series, designed to change people’s perceptions of what’s edible out there. They’ll be inviting chefs from across the UK to collaborate on a series of tasting menus using ingredients considered ‘invasive’ to the UK – from Japanese Knotweed to Signal Crayfish. The series kicks off on 30 September with Sam and Alicja of Whole Beast, followed by food writer Olia Hercules on 7 October, the Carcass Cartel on 21 October (including Adam Handling and Budgie Montoya), and food waste activist Tom Hunt on 25 November. 30 September-25 November.
Dinner with Friends at Red Rooster
As the London go-to for Southern soul food (think crispy fried chicken, collard greens and other wholesome grub) coupled with exciting live music, Red Rooster is no stranger to good food and a good time, but the restaurant’s ‘Dinner with Friends’ series takes the dining experience to a whole new level of deliciousness. The acclaimed supper club sees Red Rooster’s Culinary Director, Marcus Samuelsson, collaborating with a new chef each time to dish up culture mash-ups, serve unexpected delicacies and above all host a night of exceptional food, fantastic company and superlative entertainment. The next ‘Friend’ on the agenda is renowned chef Shaun Whitmore (who has worked with Hix, Jamie Oliver’s restaurant group and Patty & Bun).
