The V&A has curated the first international retrospective of iconic British designer Mary Quant in almost 50 years. With over 200 garments and accessories including unseen pieces from her archive, the exhibition explores the years between 1955 and 1975 in which Quant launched a fashion revolution on the British high street. One of Britain’s most influential designers, Quant is known for her bright, playful clothes, from the decade-defining mini skirt to vibrant tights, popularised by the likes of Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton. Until 16 February 2020.

Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk

An entire exhibition dedicated to the kimono? We’re officially intrigued. From 17th Century Japanese garments, to original Star Wars costumes and designs from the likes of Yves Saint Laurent and John Galliano, explore the fascinating evolution of the Kimono and its progressional role within the world of haute couture. 29 February – 21 June 2020

Bags: Inside Out

Practical, sometimes necessary and often wholly understated: Bags: Inside Out celebrates the history, status and power of the humble handbag. From luxury designs – think Mulberry and Karl Lagerfeld – to Winston Churchill’s despatch box and those worn by Margaret Thatcher and Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City, delve into the depths of fashion’s most functional accessory. Opening on 25 April 2020.

Uncover a glorious collection of 200 renaissance watercolour works of art and their depiction of the natural world in the first exhibition dedicated to the superlative art form. Opening on 16 May 2020.

Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser
