The Chef Line-Up For Royal Ascot 2020 Has Been Announced

The ‘chef’s in residence’ line-up for Royal Ascot 2020 has been revealed, and it features more Michelin stars than ever before.

One of the most important events on the summer social calendar, Royal Ascot returns from 16 – 20 June 2020 for five days of world-class horse racing, high fashion and pageantry. Like so often in life, one of the most exciting aspects is the food: Royal Ascot is known for its culinary excellence, and this year is set to be better than ever.

The 2020 chef line-up involves some exciting new faces, including London-based Australian chef Skye Gyngell, known for her work at Spring at Somerset House and Petersham Nurseries. She’ll be making her Royal Ascot debut at The Balmoral, an innovative concept that combines the traditional values of Ascot with a more contemporary, forward-thinking style of service in the Royal Enclosure Gardens. There’s also plenty of buzz around The Ledbury’s two-Michelin-starred Brett Graham, who will be cooking in the Queen Anne Enclosure’s award-winning restaurant on the fifth floor of the Ascot Grandstand.

A number of chefs will be returning to Royal Ascot, led by Ascot Chef Ambassador Raymond Blanc OBE, who will once again take up residence in the prestigious Panoramic Restaurant in the Royal Enclosure. Ollie Dabbous – the man behind one of the most talked about restaurant openings of recent years, HIDE – will also be there, though this year he’s launching a brand new Royal Enclosure restaurant named Holyroodhouse. L’Enclume’s Simon Rogan, too, will be returning to host his restaurant in the Royal Enclosure Gardens for a third year, while also curating the menu at the nearby Green Yard Restaurant.

Elsewhere guests will have the chance to enjoy afternoon tea from Master Pâtissier Eric Lanlard in the Parade Ring Restaurant, 1768 Grill & Tea Rooms and Windsor Greys; a seasonal menu from James Tanner in the Queen Anne Kitchen; and plant-based cuisine from Ben Whale across some of the private boxes and restaurants.

‘Our portfolio of Royal Ascot Fine Dining has gone from strength to strength in recent years and 2020 is no exception as we welcome more Michelin stars than ever before,’ says Jonathan Parker, Director of Food & Beverage at Ascot Racecourse. ‘In fact, I believe Royal Ascot to be the single biggest collection of stars – both on and off the track – of any British sporting event.

‘Ascot Racecourse is a leading light in sporting venue gastronomy, and we have an incredible platform to showcase some of the world’s top chefs. Over the past 300 years, Ascot has established itself as the highlight summer event in society’s calendar and the food and drink plays an intrinsic part of a racegoers day.’
