GucciFest
The new collection from Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele will be presented to the world a little differently this season: across a seven-episode miniseries during a week-long digital film festival, GucciFest. Co-directed by Gus Van Sant, the series will star friends of the house including Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Arlo Parks and Florence Welch. Alongside this, the GucciFest site will showcase pieces from 15 emerging fashion designers by publishing their fashion films. 16 – 22 November 2020, guccifest.com
The Resilience Readings
Thandie Newton, Tracy Chevalier and Lee Child are just some of the stars appearing in The Resilience Readings, a virtual literary festival organised by London charity Freedom from Torture. As the name suggests, it’s all about resilience – crucial in times like these – with authors, actors and poets discussing the theme. There will also be an auction, which includes the chance to bid on having a character named after you in upcoming novels by Margaret Attwood Louis de Bernières, William Boyd, Jonathan Coe, Michael Morpurgo, and many more. UNIQLO Tate Lates Night In
This week, tune into Tate’s digital events programme, which includes a new instalment of UNIQLO Tate Lates Night In focused around the Zanele Muholi exhibition. Ballet on Demand
During November and December, English National Ballet’s new on-demand video platform will stream five world premieres. Available to rent for 72-hour periods, the productions include the old movie musical-inspired Jolly Folly and Take Five Blues, a response to Bach’s Vivace and Paul Desmond’s jazz standard, Take Five. Raindance Film Festival 2020
In a response to the global pandemic, Raindance Film Festival has launched its 28th year with an online showcase of indie film. Britain’s biggest independent film festival intends to continue inspiring and unifying people through the art of film by adapting their content – commencing with the UK Premiere of Stardust on 28 October. Watch up to 50 film premieres from anywhere in the world for free, covering a range of themes from politics to the female gaze.
