Planning on eating out on Christmas Day? Organising a festive meal out with friends? If you’re not in the mood for hosting this year, fear not: there are an abundance of chefs willing to do the hard work for you. Here are London’s best festive menus…
Simpson’s in the Strand
Food trends are fun, but nothing beats a traditional Christmas dinner – and where better to enjoy it than The Savoy’s quintessentially British restaurant Simpson’s in the Strand? Simpson’s has long been known as purveyor of the perfect roast beef, which is wheeled directly to your table on a huge silver trolley and carved before your eyes – this celebrated tradition began as a way to avoid disturbing chess games in progress. Come Christmas, their legendary beef is joined by premium bronze turkeys from Norfolk, both served with Yorkshires, chestnut stuffing, roast potatoes and Brussel sprouts. For dessert, choose between traditional Christmas pudding and a chocolate and chestnut yule log, served with spiced poached pears and vanilla ice-cream. Three courses from £205pp. Available 25 December. simpsonsinthestrand.co.uk
Brown’s Mayfair
Looking for festive private dining menus in London? The offering at Brown’s Mayfair is suitably decadent, filled with seasonal treats both sweet and savoury. Begin with spiced pumpkin soup or game terrine followed by a choice of mains: Essex goose, Crown of Blackwell turkey or wild turbot with winter truffles. Desserts include Brown’s mince pie with Christmas pudding butter, and a Clementine leaf ice cream with shortbread, alongside an array of festive extras including a cheese trolley and Christmas crackers. £110pp. browns-restaurants.co.uk
Bob Bob Ricard
Christmas calls for bubbly – and where better to enjoy it than the opulent Bob Bob Ricard, famous for it’s ‘press for Champagne’ buttons? Throughout the festive season they’re offering a traditional turkey lunch alongside their a la carte menu, available on Christmas Day from 12-9.30pm. bobbobricard.com
Holborn Dining Room
Found within one of the city’s most stylish hotels, Rosewood London, Holborn Dining Room was designed for special occasions. We have Martin Brudniziki to thank for the beautiful interiors – think copped-topped bars and red leather banquettes – and Calum Franklin’s sophisticated British menu never fails to disappoint. Their festive party menu kicks things off on a high note with a lobster thermidor tart, followed by a choice of mains: roast Suffolk bronze turkey, wild seabass, or onion squash and mushroom spelt risotto. The Pump Street chocolate brulee is our pudding pick, though we’d never say no to a cheeseboard from Neal’s Yard. From £70pp. holborndiningroom.com
Sea Containers London
Get festive Thameside at Sea Containers London, where diners can choose between two seasonal menus in the run up to Christmas. Both are designed to be shared and filled with delicious dishes, including smoked duck salad and pan-fried cod alongside wintery sides of maple roasted Brussel sprouts and chestnut mashed potato. Festive menus from £70pp, Christmas Day Set Menu is £115pp. seacontainerslondon.com

For dessert, choose between a traditional Christmas pudding, a custard and nutmeg tart, and their signature chocolate ‘Bluebird’ pudding with hazelnut and raspberry. £110pp. Available 25 December. bluebird-restaurant.co.uk
Petersham Nurseries Covent Garden
Decked out with seasonal floristry and twinkling fairy lights, Petersham Nurseries gets even more beautiful during the festive season. Alternatively go for their extra special (and pricier) menu, which kicks things up a notch with dishes like saffron risotto and John Dory fillet with pink fir potatoes. Menus from £60pp. petershamnurseries.com
Fenchurch Restaurant
There’s something about dining at height that feels extra special, so if you’re opting to eat out this Christmas Sky Garden’s Fenchurch Restaurant makes a fine choice. Their yuletide offering is a three-course affair, beginning with a choice of venison carpaccio, confit salmon and Berskwell custard tart. For the main event, choose between Yorkshire goose with truffle potato cake, Peterhead halibut and mussels, or roasted sand carrots with toasted spelt, golden raisins and pumpkin nage.
