As part of the mission to slow the spread of coronavirus, all UK restaurants, bars and cafes are now closed for the foreseeable. We can, however, still support our favourite eateries in these challenging times by ordering their delicious dishes direct to our homes. Here are some of the best London restaurants offering delivery.
Gymkhana
Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant Gymkhana had only just re-opened following a fire before lockdown rules came in – but you can now enjoy some of its top dishes from home. Tandoori masala lamb chops, butter chicken masala, and wild muntjac biriyani all feature on the new delivery menu. SUPPER. gymkhanalondon.com
Nobu London
You can now enjoy the magic of Nobu from the comfort of your home, thanks to a new takeaway menu featuring all the classics from the world-famous restaurant, available to order from the Old Park Lane branch. Deliveroo and SUPPER. noburestaurants.com
Kanishka
Headed up by Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar, Kanishka focuses on the lesser known food of the Seven Sister States, which border China, Tibet and Burma on the north-east of India. The restaurant’s new takeaway service includes curries, biriyanis and small plates, alongside a selection of wines and beers. Deliveroo and kanishkarestaurant.co.uk
Arros QD
Transport yourself to Valencia with a delivery from Quique Dacosta’s restaurant Arros QD, which now offers a selection of its dishes for delivery including grills, tapas and their famous paella. Alternatively, make your own with their DIY paella kits, which can be purchased via their online shop. Deliveroo and SUPPER. arrosqd.com
Ottolenghi Notting Hill
Creative, bright, vegetable-based dishes: this is Ottolenghi at his best. If you live in Notting Hill, a Mediterranean feast is just one click away, with Deliveroo dishes from Ottolenghi’s eponymous restaurant including grilled salmon, aubergine bake and a selection of vibrant salads. A number of pantry goods are also available to order, such as spices, nuts and crackers, so you can stock up on those while you’re at it. Deliveroo. ottolenghi.co.uk
COYA Mayfair
Enjoy a taste of Peru with COYA en Casa, the new delivery service from the glitzy Mayfair restaurant. The eclectic menu includes a selection of COYA’s signature starters, mains and desserts: a typical meal could include a ceviche starter, wagyu sirloin for the main and their signature cheesecake to finish. Pair with Peruvian-inspired cocktails, which come fully prepared. SUPPER. coyarestaurant.com
Circolo Popolare & Gloria
The most extravagant Italian restaurant group in town, Big Mamma Group, has launched a click and collect delivery service from its two London restaurants: Gloria and Circolo Popolare. Gnocchi, burrata, lasagne, and pizza are all up for grabs, alongside Do It Yourself pasta kits with all the ingredients needed to make their famed Mafaldine al tartufo. Collection available from the restaurants 7-10pm. bigmammagroup.com
Townsend
The recently opened Townsend, found within The Whitechapel Gallery, wowed our managing editor Amy on a recent trip there. In light of the current coronavirus situation, founder Nick Gilkinson has worked with head chef Joe Fox to reconfigure the restaurant’s signature dishes into a delivery friendly ready-to-eat format, available alongside a selection of Nick’s favourite wines. If you can’t make it to the supermarket, Townsend will also be offering supply package boxes: the Kitchen Essentials features things like fresh eggs, dried pasta and chopped tomatoes, while the Seasonal box includes potatoes, seasonal greens, onions and apples. Order via their website. Minimum order £10. whitechapelgallery.org
The Cinnamon Collection
Vivek Singh’s restaurants are dotted around London, from up-and-coming Battersea Power Station to the luxurious Cinnamon Club in Westminster. If you live near one of them, you’re lucky enough to be able to enjoy his modern Indian delights via delivery. SUPPER. thecinnamoncollection.com
HIDE
Ollie Dabbous’ restaurant HIDE is taking luxury food delivery to new heights with its takeaway menu, with caviar, barbecued langoustines, burrata and glazed guinea fowl all available to order. Your dining room may not be as fancy as the glitzy Mayfair restaurant – but you can eat in your pyjamas. SUPPER. hide.co.uk
Jean-Georges at The Connaught
Big name French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten brings his signature cuisine to London at this all-day restaurant, found within Mayfair hotel The Connaught. Classic French cooking is fused with Asian cuisine here: think sea bass with sweet and sour jus, wagyu beef with miso mustard butter, and truffle cheeseburgers with yuzu pickles. The Notting Hill branch offers delivery to residents via Deliveroo, but you can also use their new own service, Daylesford Delivered. Deliveroo. daylesford.com
Gunpowder
In the past, if you wanted Indian food in London you’d be met with two choices: curry house or fancy fine dining. Yet the past few years have seen an influx in mid-range Indian restaurants, inspired in part by the opening of the legendary Dishoom. One of these is Gunpowder, which first launched off Commercial Street in 2015, followed by a second branch in Tower Bridge. The Spitalfields venue offers delivery via Deliveroo – think classic Indian dishes reimagined: bhuna aubergine and crispy kale salad with goat’s cheese, seabass steamed in banana leaf, and spicy vension doughnuts all feature on the eclectic menu. Many of us will be missing the experience of being inside a restaurant, but FOLIE founder Guillaume hopes to recreate this with his new private dining service. Guests will enjoy dishes from the new spring menu alongside a selection of cocktails and wines. For those after simple food and wine delivery, that’s also on offer. To book contact gd@folie.london and visit folie.london for the menu.
Chucs
Lucky enough to live around Belgravia? Give yourself a night off cooking and order in from Italian-inspired restaurant Chucs, which recently launched a delivery menu.
