It’s official: from the 4 July 2020 you’ll be allowed to go on holiday in England. But which hotels will be open? As hotels get to grips with new social distancing rules and make plans to keep guests and staff safe, we’re making it easier for you to scope out your next staycation with a roundup of some of the hottest hotels in the country’s reopening plans.     Reopening: 4 July 2020

    Heckfield Place will be capping occupancy levels and keeping a two night gap between departing guests and new room arrivals to allow a deep clean of rooms between guests. Culinary Director Skye Gyngell has designed a weekly house-party-style programme of moving dining locations making the most of the Sun House and the beautiful grounds. Masks & hand sanitiser will be placed throughout the home and worn by staff and guests with a one way system to ensure plenty of space. Temperature checks will also be issued on arrival.

  • Gidleigh Park, Dartmoor, Devon

    Reopening: 4 July 2020

    Located in Devon on the stunning Dartmoor National Park, Gidleigh Park is set within 107 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland.     Partial reopening: 4 July 2020

    Cotswolds favourite Thyme will be opening up its cottages for exclusive lets from the 4 July, with food available from the Ox Barn Restaurant and The Thyme Shop also reopening for business. The hotel aims to reopen entirely from 27 August with social distancing measures in place.

    Housed in a restored 18th century manor in Hampshire, social distancing is made easy with 500 acres of Dogmersfield Park to explore. Play a game of croquet, go horseback riding at the Equestrian centre, cycle around the countryside or play tennis on the Hotel tennis court to get out in the open this summer.   • THE PIG-at Bridge Place - Canterbury, Kent

    The Pig at Bridge Place, Canterbury, Kent

    Reopening: 4 July 2020

    All six of The Pig Hotels will open on 4 July with the first night reserved solely for the NHS. Guests can book stays from 6 July.  Head to Hampshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, or Cornwall and pig out at The Pig or check in to The Pig at Bridge Place and explore the Nailbourne valley outside Canterbury. The Pig at Harlyn Bay will also open for the first time on Friday 31st July.

  • St Mawes Hotel

    The Idle Rocks Hotel and St Mawes Hotel, Cornwall

    Reopening: 4 July 2020

    New measures might mean social distancing is in operation throughout The Idle Rocks and St Mawes Hotels, but guests can expect the usual level of service and warm greeting on arrival. At The Idle Rocks, there will be limited availability and lounge space and tables in the restaurant will be reserved for hotel guests only at this time. At St Mawes Hotel, guests will be offered bed and breakfast accommodation in one of the seven bedrooms (traditional Cornish breakfast will be served in the bedroom) or those wishing to get out and explore can opt for a picnic breakfast.

    The Idle Rocks Hotel: A three-night break has been created for guests visiting this summer and includes breakfast daily and dinner from Dorian’s menu each evening, prices are £370 per night (based on two sharing, three nights minimum stay).

    “We have been practicing social distancing for over 300 years” reads a statement on Lucknam Park’s website. Set amongst 500 acres of private land and with a big focus on outdoor pursuits, there is plenty to do. New al fresco options with be available, such as picnics in the parkland and activities such horse riding, tennis, falconry, archery, croquet, clay pigeon shooting as well as duck herding and sculptor tours with be available to guests. Equine therapy sessions are also sure to be a popular option post-lockdown.
