J.K. Place Paris
J.K. Place Paris is being converted from the former European Consulate at 82 Rue de Lille. On the back of the Seine opposite Boulevard Saint Germain, the location and building took the J.K. team over 5 years to find. The group’s first venture outside of Italy, expect a French twist on their signature Italian style, with a design by Michele Bonan. Check in for one of 30 keys, an indoor pool, Sisley Spa and a J.K. f&b experience in partnership with Casa Tua. Some of the furniture was found in flea markets across Paris and carefully restored to form talking points in the guest rooms and public spaces. Villa Passalacqua, Moltrasio
An addition to Grand Hotel Tremezzo, elegant 17th century property Villa Passalacqua is a national Italian monument, standing atop the village of Moltrasio, which will be launching when the hotel opens for the 2019 season. Hotel De La Ville, Rome
Rocco Forte’s new Hotel de la Ville stands at the top of the Spanish Steps, just to the left of the Hassler Hotel. The Inter Continental since 1959, the building has been reimagined as a haven for visitors in search of artistic and cultural inspiration, just as aristocrats from round the world used to flock to Rome on their Grand Tours. The hotel’s discreet façade gives little indication of the hotel’s size nor of its luscious, maximalist décor, which spells a departure from the more severe urban elegance of its sister Hotel de Russie. There are 104 rooms, some of them suites with generous, comfortable private terraces. Some overlook the terracotta courtyard garden that leads from the Julep Bar, Yellow Print Room and signature restaurant Mosaico. Fragrant with herbs and flowers and shaded by sturdy parasols, it’s a welcome oasis in which to eat away from Rome’s hot, hectic bustle. Tommaso Ziffer designed every space here as if it were a movie set and perhaps best of all is sitting in the Cielo Bar, a signature herb-infused cocktail in hand, watching yet another theatrical sunset over this undeniably magnificent city.

Nobu Hotel Barcelona

The fourth European hotel and third Spanish property in the Nobu Hotels portfolio, Nobu Hotel Barcelona will offer panoramic views of the city when it opens this summer. The Japanese art form of Kintsugi was the main inspiration behind the design of the hotel, which will house 244 rooms, including 43 suites, meeting rooms, event spaces and a Nobu restaurant on the 23rd floor. Reminiscent of Gaudi’s work throughout Barcelona, the interiors will see traditional Japanese broken pottery applied to the walls and ceilings.

INNSiDE Calvia Beach, Mallorca
The centre-piece of this new Mallorca hotspot is the rooftop pool, the largest suspended pool in Europe, featuring views across the beachfront. The rooftop also offers restaurants and bars, making it a hotspot for hotel guests and locals alike. The hotel, part of the Melia group, will partner with local artists to host events and exhibitions throughout the year.

In time for the summer season, Amàre Beach Hotel is opening its doors in Bou Cove in San Antonio Bay. T-Nest, Croatia
The brain child of Goran Strok, T-Nest is set to be a luxury eco resort set in the relatively undiscovered region of Lika. Showcasing local craftsmanship and Croatian art, the resort will put eco-travel at the forefront of its plans from sustainable dining initiatives to the natural pool with a ‘biotape’ self-cleaning system, while opening up a new part of Croatia to the luxury tourism market. Katikies Garden, Santorini
The seventh hotel in the Katikies Resorts & Club group, Katikies Garden will open in Santorini this summer, set to be the first five-star property situated in the centre of Fira town. Housed in a former Monastery, guests will enjoy the hotels’s unique charm and interesting history, with blossom-filled alleyways, fountains and blooming gardens throughout. With 40 suites spanning seven categories, from Junior Suites with private verandas or gardens and open-air heated jet pools, to the two-floor Katikies Garden Pool Suite which has its own swimming pool, spacious open-plan living and dressing area plus a stunning 120 square metre private garden. Situated within the Victoria Dockside arts, design and conceptual retail district, the 413-room Rosewood Hong Kong will be located at the former New World Centre on Salisbury Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. The ultra-luxury hotel will occupy 27 floors of a multi-use tower, which is set to become a landmark on the world-famous skyline.
