Martha Ortiz’ ‘Into the Gold’ Menu at Ella Canta

Mexico is one of the world’s largest producers of gold, and the precious metal is woven into the country’s rich history. Chef Martha Ortiz celebrates this in her new six-course menu, Into the Gold, available now at Ella Canta. The selection of artfully presented dishes includes a sea bass ceviche with kumquat, guinea fowl with white mole, and a pineapple and mango sorbet laced with gold. Tails Cocktails x Mrs Foggs

Give your December bank balance a break at Mrs Fogg’s this Friday, where a number of cocktails are being given out for free to mark the shortest Friday of the year. A partnership with Tails Cocktails, there will be 353 winter punch cocktails up for grabs – a nod to the time of sunset, 3.53pm. To redeem yours, just flash your watch at the bartenders at Mrs Fogg’s, Broadgate Circle between 4-6pm. One way to brighten up the darkest day of 2019! 20 December.

Sexy Fish’s 4th Birthday

Lavish Mayfair restaurant Sexy Fish is celebrating its 4th birthday with a series of wild and wonderful events, running in partnership with The House of Suntory. Guests will dine surrounded by an array of acrobats, dancers and vocal artists, with House of Pyramid performers outfitted in elaborate Under The Sea-themed costumes. The series kicked off with a Day of The Dead party earlier this month, with events culminating in a New Year’s Eve bash on 31 December. Reserve tables here

67 Pall Mall, the wine-focused members club in historic St James’s, is hosting a series of wine sessions, open to non-members and members alike. Hosted by Julian Grounds, the chief winemaker of New Zealand’s iconic Craggy Range winery, these are a fantastic opportunity to get clued up on different wines – whether you’re a novice or a wine aficionado. Scarfes and Scotch: Whisky Masterclass at Scarfes Bar

Embark on an educational journey through Scotland’s most iconic spirit at Rosewood London’s ever-glamorous Scarfes Bar. Whether you’re a beginner or an aficionado, Scarfes Bar is the perfect place to learn about whisky, being home to one of the most impressive whisky collections in the capital. Hosted by resident Scot and whisky fanatic Craig Petrie, each masterclass will begin with an invitation to explore the towering Whisky Wall which greets visitors as they enter the bar, housing over 500 whiskies. This will be followed by a full induction into the world of Scotch whisky, alongside an open discussion about how the geography of distilleries can change the taste of the liquids. Following its reopening earlier this year, Fitzrovia bar bubbledogs is launching a new series in which a programme of guest sommeliers put their stamp on bubbledogs’ celebrated Champagne list. Some of the capital’s most popular wine bars will be making an appearance, including P. Roganic: The Scandinavian Series

In January 2020, Simon Rogan’s Michelin-starred restaurant Roganic will introduce its new guest chef series. Running throughout the first half of the year, the series will see Simon and his team welcoming a line-up of top chefs from Europe’s culinary mecca of Scandinavia to his Marylebone restaurant. Each will cook up a unique eight-course feast alongside the Roganic team, available at the restaurant for one day only. Kicking off the series is Christian F. Puglisi on 18 January, who opened Michelin-starred Relæ in Copenhagen in 2010, before launching the smaller and much-loved eatery across the street, Manfreds. Next up on 21 March is Magnus Ek, chef owner of Stockholm’s two Michelin-starred Oaxen Krog, as well as more informal concept Oaxen SlipTickets are prices at £135 per head (excluding discretionary service charge), include an arrival drink, snacks and eight-course dinner.
