Eat Out To Help Out: Best High-End Restaurant Deals

Is dining at The Shard on your bucket list? Now may be your chance to tick that box. It’s one of the many restaurants participating in Rishi Sunak’s Eat Out To Help Out scheme, introduced to help our battered hospitality trade get back on its feet. Throughout August, those dining out in participating restaurants from Monday to Wednesday will get 50 per cent off their bill, up to the value of £10 a head. A huge number of high-end spots are taking part – read on for some of the finest deals going.

Gymkhana

Gymkhana

An elegant dining room from the team behind Trishna and Hoppers, this Mayfair hotspot is inspired by Indian gymkhana clubs, where high society types meet to dine, drink and socialise. Last summer the restaurant temporarily closed after a fire – but fans will be pleased to know it has re-opened and is participating in Eat Out To Help Out. Head there for lunch or dinner between 5.30pm and 6.30pm to claim the discount. gymkhanalondon.com

Hakkasan Mayfair

Cantonese restaurant Hakksan Mayfair is a hotspot for A-listers – which, evidently, means it’s a place for splashing the cash. During August, however, us mere mortals can get a look-in too: their two-course ‘Taste of Hakkasan’ menu is available for just £24, featuring dishes such as brown butter and black bean scallop with taro mousseline. hakkasan.com

Aqua Shard

The Shard

There are countless sky-high restaurants in the capital, but there’s something particularly special about The Shard: the city’s tallest building, towering 306m above ground. Half way up on the 31st floor you’ll find Aqua, an upscale, stylish spot with floor-to-ceiling windows boasting some of the city’s best panoramas. With views as spectacular as these, it’s no surprise the prices are high – but the Eat Out To Help Out discount slightly softens the blow. On top of the usual offer, Aqua Shard is offering £10 off any bottle of wine over £40 on the designated days. aquashard.co.uk

Dishoom

Dishoom

Some restaurants renowned for their constant queues are overhyped, but Dishoom is certainly not. It offers some of the capital’s best Indian food – and not only are all branches participating in EOTHO, they’re offering a straight-up 50 percent off all food and non-alcoholic drinks on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. See you there. dishoom.com

Social Eating House

This one is a real gem. Head to Jason Atherton’s Social Eating House this month, and you’ll be treated to a two-course Michelin-starred meal for as little as £12. The set menu includes dishes such as roast mackerel, slow cooked Cumbrian chicken and aged Angus rump steak. socialeatinghouse.com

Nobu Old Park Lane

Visit the world’s most famous sushi restaurant this August, and you can try their legendary black cod for £32.50. noburestaurants.com

Hide

Hide

It’s no surprise a restaurant rumoured to have cost £20 million to put together comes with a hefty bill for diners – but book a table at Ollie Dabbous’ Hide this month and you could be enjoying three courses for just £38. Go for lunch and it will be even cheaper, with a similar menu available for £28. The Michelin-starred restaurant is also offering a kind of high-end BYOB deal: pick up a bottle from partner wine shop Hedonism, and corkage will cost £10. hide.co.uk

Sketch

Sketch, Mayfair

A Narnia-style hub of restaurants, bars and art on Mayfair’s Conduit Street, sketch is a dining emporium like no other. Dreamed up by restauranteur Mourad Mazouz, it’s made up of four uniquely designed restaurants and a bar which sits beneath the Instagram-famous pod-style toilets. Their Eat Out To Help Out offering is available in the Parlour – the most relaxed of Sketch’s dining areas – enabling guests to enjoy steak and chips for £10. sketchlondon.com

No Fifty Cheyne

No. Fifty Cheyne

Old Chelsea favourite Cheyne Walk Brasserie re-opened as the stylish No Fifty Cheyne last year – and it’s been a big success. There’s a a lovely, warm atmosphere here: despite the luxurious interiors – glass chandeliers, high ceilings, statement flowers and the like – the restaurant has an intimate, cosy feel. Jason Atherton protégé Iain Smith (previously Social Eating House) heads up the kitchen, which offers a menu of seasonal British dishes – all cooked to an exceptional standard. The best dishes are cooked on an open fire grill, averaging at around £35, but on Wednesdays in August you can claim a £10 discount per guest. fiftycheyne.com

Sexy Fish

Sexy Fish

Arguably the city’s most flamboyant restaurant, Richard Caring’s Sexy Fish is a definite splurge spot – but the EOTHO offer makes it a lot more accessible. They’re offering the standard deal Mondays to Wednesdays, which means you could be eating a whole lobster for just £22. sexyfish.com
