Breast Cancer Now Fundraising Event
Join the star-studded virtual fundraising night with performances from Pixie Lott, Emeli Sandé and more, as well as uplifting stories and the chance to win amazing prizes at REUNIGHT. Hosted by Sky Sports Presenter Jacquie Beltrao, who was diagnosed with breast cancer again this year, the event continues to support Breast Cancer Now despite Covid-19 putting a halt to many of the charity’s fundraising events. Funds raised will help to support world-class research and life-changing support for those diagnosed with breast cancer, with one woman being diagnosed every ten minutes in the UK. Raindance Film Festival 2020
In a response to the global pandemic, Raindance Film Festival has launched its 28th year with an online showcase of indie film. Britain’s biggest independent film festival intends to continue inspiring and unifying people through the art of film by adapting their content – commencing with the UK Premiere of Stardust on 28 October. Watch up to 50 film premieres from anywhere in the world for free, covering a range of themes from politics to the female gaze. Perpetual Music Concerts with Rolex
In a bid to support musicians and singers during this challenging period, Rolex has launched a series of concerts across the world – available to view online. The idea is to give artists who have suffered the loss of audience and income the chance to perform with renowned artists in prestigious venues. The first took place in Pesaro, Italy last week, and concerts in Berlin (1 September) and Paris (3 September) are still to come. In each of the concerts, a Rolex Testimonee will introduce the evening and present the artists and mutually agreed repertoire: Sonya Yoncheva in Berlin, and Rolando Villazón and associated artist Renaud Capuçon in Paris. Events will be streamed live on medici.tv, and will remain on the platform until the end of October.
FANE’s ‘In Conversation With’ Series
Nigella Lawson, Matt Haig and Jodi Picoult are all taking part in the new programme of ‘in conversation with’ events from production company FANE. World Big Dog Walk
The Covid-19 pandemic has sadly proved difficult for many animal charities across the globe. Enter the Virtual Big Dog Walk Challenge; a digital fundraiser aiming to raise money for these charities in need. The campaign is asking humans to take their furry friends for a walk at a location of choice – yes, it’s really that simple – in which owners (including the likes of Claire Balding, Michaela Strachan and Gemma Atkinson) will pledge a distance to walk throughout the month of September, in order to raise money for a number of animal charities. Hay Festival has launched a new Q&A series, designed to showcase the author of the Festival’s Book of the Month title through an interactive conversation on Crowdcast.
